One of the world's oldest and purest breeds, selectively bred in Norway for 2,000 years. These horses have a gentle disposition, calm easy going temperament, love people and are extremely tough.
They were bred for all aspects of work in Norway, from pulling a plow to trotting to town with a carriage or riding cross country. They are rugged, surefooted horses. They range in height from 13.2hh to 15.hh and weigh 1000-1500 lbs. They vary in type from drafty to a riding horse type. Their colors are brown dun predominately with some gray, white, yellow and red dun showing up.
These stocky strong horses can carry adults with ease over many miles of trails. They are great for pulling carriages or sleighs and for many types of farm work.
